Indeed, it seems to be some kind of LZ77 compression. Have you tried using on these addresses any of the tools that can deal with the GBA BIOS compression algorithms? Those random bytes between data make it sound like some kind of LZSS-variant compression with 1-byte flags. I'll be around here in case you need anything else I can probably help with Thankfully, Mother 2 on the GBA only needs restoration of the overworld sprites, battles (including battle backgrounds and battle sprites) seem to still use the same colour palettes as the original SNES.Īnyway, best of luck with the modifications! Hope you can manage to get it working without too much of a hassle. I only managed to do a PoC and restored only Ness' room at the very beginning, the process of doing it manually was SO time consuming that it took me a week just for that damn room, and having a tool that could ease up the process would be amazing! I'll take a look on modifying my program so it can look for those palettes aswell.Īlso, if you don't mind and end up modifying your program for this kind of things, would you be willing to release the modified program so that a restoration of Mother 2 in the Mother 1+2 ROM could be possible too? That sounds really good :-D Why did I not see that?
